Last Sunday Tenby Under 10s travelled to compete in the Tumble RFC juniors rugby festival, looking to gain some momentum ahead of next week’s Pembrokeshire festival.
First up was Llandybie and Tenby started strongly with Ethan Lewis evading a few tackles and touching down. Ollie Tucks was up next going over the line making it 2-0.
Llandybie pulled one back straight from the restart, before Tenby went further ahead through Logan, who then got his second of the game after some good aggressive work by Bennett and great work at the breakdown from Madoc Evans, along with fantastic tackling from George Mc and Ethan Lewis!
Ollie also grabbed his second of the game after a great pass out wide from Logan, before Llandybie pulled another back at the last play of the game.
Next up was Pontyberem, which was going to be a bigger test for Tenby after conceding a try in the first minute.
It was Ethan who got the first for Tenby, and Evan got his brace, but at the half way point it was 4-3 to Pontyberem.
Logan pulled it back to 4 - 4, but it wasn’t to be as Pontyberem scored with the last play of game to win it.
Tenby then took on Nantgaredig and ran out 5-2 winners, with tries from: Rhys Barnes, Ollie, Logan, Ethan Wright and Iestyn Barrellie.
The hosts Tumble were up next, and Ethan getting into the habit of scoring first was at it again followed with another for Ollie and Evan also crossing.
Tumble were never out of it though and a tight game ended up 3-3.
Newcastle Emlyn was the penultimate game of the day! It was never going to be a try fest, but it was Logan that got Tenby the win.
The sixth and final game for was against Carmarthen Athletic, which was a tough one for Tenby going down 6-2! There was a well deserved try from Jack Henson, with Rhys Barnes also getting on the scoresheet.
Thanks go to Tumble Juniors RFC for a well organised fun festival and to all the parents/supporters who travelled.
Tenby squad: Ethan W, Ethan L, Jayden, Ollie T, Madoc, Iestyn, Bennett, Jack, Max, Tyler, Rhys, Will D, Logan, Thomas, Evan, Lucas, George.
Tenby Swifts Under 7s
Tenby Under 7s attended their Pembrokeshire District Festival on Sunday, hosted by Pembroke Dock RFC.
The teams were split into two pools, Tenby being grouped together with Haverfordwest, Neyland, Fishguard, Pembroke Dock and Milford Haven. It was a well organised morning with not too much waiting around for the children.
First up, Tenby faced Haverfordwest, starting well with some fantastic team tries and winning by five tries to three.
Neyland were the next team up, presenting more of a challenge for Tenby. However, an excellent standout try from Leo was a great example of how determined Tenby are. Neyland narrowly came out winners, scoring four tries to three.
Tenby were back to winning ways against Fishguard, scoring the only five tries of the game, Rupert again running practically the whole length of the pitch.
Home side Pembroke Dock were next up, showing some excellent defensive skills and non-stop tagging. Tenby, however, did not give them the full run of the game, losing narrowly by four tries to two.
Finally, Tenby faced Milford Haven and were keen to end the festival on a high, winning by three tries to two
Unfortunately, Tenby’s three wins weren’t enough to see them through to Finals Day, but they showed everyone what a great team that they have developed into in their first season of rugby, excellent effort by players and coaches Cone and Nick!
Team - Caitlyn Lewis, Jevan Guymer, Bradley Rossiter, Rhys Broadhurst, Bobby Field-Thomas, Craig Roberts, Dylan Drewett, Bobby Waters, Leo Werner, Jude Christen, Ethan Brace, Rupert James.
