Round Robin Success for UnDER 7s
Another cracking weekend for Tenby Swifts Under 7s last Sunday. The bad weather stopped and Storm Imogen stayed away to let the games go ahead.
Tenby invited Haverfordwest and Fishguard to take part in a round robin, with all teams playing each other in turn. Tenby’s captain was Alex Stock and like a true captain led with pride and made sure his team worked hard in all games.
The turnover count in both games exceeded 10, which showed Tenby Under 7s have developed one of the best defences in the county!
Evan Christen once again showed great running skill and 100 per cent commitment in defence. Iestyn Barrellie and Thomas Prince both showed great tagging and both used their size and strength to go on some powerful runs (future Tenby second row partnership).
Madoc Evans had great vision with ball in hand and linked well with Tenby top try scorer Carter Heywood. Support play from Olly Tucker, Ethan Lewis, Jack Henson and George McDonald completed an excellent morning for the Swifts.
Excellent progression from all players who are becoming better players and more importantly becoming a stronger team every week.
Huge thank you to all supporters who came and cheered on the Swifts.
Game one - Tenby 7 Fishguard 2; game two - Tenby 7 Haverfordwest 3.
Under 8s
After continued rain and waterlogged pitch conditions, many rugby games so far this year have been cancelled! The Under 8s, however, managed to get their second home game of the year last Sunday on the Clicketts sand pitch against Haverfordwest.
With the weather cool but dry, the game got off to a good start. Captain for Tenby was Lewis Rossiter and, after winning the toss, the Swifts were off to a speedy start.
Nevertheless, it was Haverfordwest who first to score, but the Swifts were not disheartened by this, only more determined!
The speedy play continued and it wasn’t long before the Swifts were in the lead.
At half-time there was a change in the weather, with the players having to seek shelter from the driving hailstones!
But not put off, they were soon back on the pitch to continue with the second half. Much of the same continued, with some impressive tagging and surging runs!
A good win for Tenby, 11 tries to four. Well done to you all! Scorers were Kieran, Connor, Jack, Louie and Lewis.
