Tenby United seem destined to be involved in close encounters at Heywood Lane this season.

They are certainly giving their supporters some nail-biting action and Saturday’s division two west clash with Nantgaredig was no exception.

Mixed in with a single point victory against Fishguard, the United have experienced recent losses by four points, four points and seven points, and they looked to be heading for another reversal last weekend when they slipped behind by 17 points to seven at half-time.

And that was after number eight Harry Bolton had given them an early lead with a try converted by fly-half Harry Rossiter.

After that, Nantgaredig had them back-pedalling with two converted tries of their own, along with a penalty goal, to hold a useful 10-point advantage at the break.

Stern words during the interval saw the United start the second half with renewed vigour and when Bolton forced his way over for a second try, again converted by?Rossiter, it was game on.

Now in the ascendency, Rossiter levelled things with a penalty going into the last quarter and the United must have then been hopeful of pressing on to victory.

Despite their best efforts, though the resilient Nant defence remained strong and in the end the two sides had to be content with a share of the honours.

There are no matches tomorrow, but the United return to action with an away trip to Kidwelly the following Saturday, December 28.
