The annual fixture between former players of long established rivals Tenby United RFC and Whitland RFC was held at Derllys Court Golf Club last week.

Six pairs represented each club and, so competitive was the golf, every game went all the way to the last green.

John Morris and Paul Hoyland enjoyed a magnificent tussle against Colin Morshead and John Griffiths before winning one up.

Vernon Lawrence and Steve Williams were unfortunate to be Tenby’s only losers after falling to Ben Creamer and Huw Davies one down.

David Morgan and Carey Darcy were three down with three to play against Jason Evans and Titch Davies, but a great effort saw them claw back for a half when David birdied the 18th hole.

Geoff Martin and Graham Waring were one down on the 17th tee against Paul Kirk and Aled Davies. Geoff birdied the 17th and also claimed the 18th for a fine one up win.

Ian Richards and Tim Poole fought hard for their half against Nigel Owen and Emyr Vaughan.

Gethin Evans and Richard Ormond were two up with two to play against Andrew Phillips and John Richards. They lost the last two holes but, lucky for them, this did not affect the result of the match.

The Seasiders’ three-and-a-half points to two-and-a-half points victory is their first away win. They therefore retain the Tenby and Whitland Annual Tournament cup and now lead the series by five wins to three.

Whitland captain Paul Kirk will be looking to pick a strong Borderers’ team for the visit to Tenby next October, but Gethin Evans is determined that the Seasiders’ successful run continues.
