The game played at Tenby RFC’s Heywood Lane ground saw the young Otters run out easy winners, but in fairness, the young Pembroke players never gave up and played their part in the Mike Fry Cup Final.

The Otters fielded a strong squad who had won a hard fought semi-final against Aberystwth. They took an early lead through an unconverted try by centre Rhys Kemble, followed by a try by Lewis Whalley, converted by Lewis Hough.

Rhys Kemble scored his second try, converted by Lewis Hough, then Dylan Walsh broke through to score an unconverted try, which gave the Young Otters a 24-0 lead at half-time.

After the restart, the young Pembroke team showed much effort and attempted to develop a few attacks. Unfortunately for them, Narberth winger Rhys Meredith Barrett broke through to score a try.

Pembroke came back and this time were able to put some points on the board when fly-half Kyren Gray scored a well-contrived try, which Jared Sharrett converted. Their second try came via Harry Turner, with Jared Sharrat converting.

Yet another try by the young Otters halted the Pembroke effort when number eight Stephen Pilot scored, followed by a further try by Rhys Davies, who had come on as a late substitute.

The final score was Narberth U17s 41pts. Pembroke U17s 14.

Narberth fielded: Ryan Scourfield, Ifan Rees, Dylan Walsh, Rhys Kemble, Rhys Meredith Barrett, Lewis Hough, Jordon James, Jac Norcross, Tom Clarke, Kaleb Higgon, Daf Gibby, Griff Evans, Owain Hughes, Lewis Whalley, Stephen Pilot. Subs: Isaac Hughes, Dylan Lloyd, Rhys Davies, Harri Harries.

Crymych U18s 24 pts Narberth U18s 26

Narberth Under 18s ended a successful season winning their final, staged at Neyland RFC, against close rivals Crymych.

The young Otters, under the guidance of the coaches, have all season attempted to play a fast open game. The final was not going to be different, with centre Dylan Walsh scoring an early try converted by fullback Llew Jones.

Crymych, through good work by their front row, gained possession, enabling them to move the ball wide, before fullback Harri Williams scored, with fly-half Harri Williams converting.

The Otters took the lead through hard-working number eight Keiran Allen with an unconverted try.

Crymych responded, with speedy winger Dafydd Griffiths scoring and Harri Williams converting, which overturned the lead.

For the Otters, Keiran Allen scored his second try, with Llew Jones converting.

The Otters’ lead was reduced when Crymych’s Harri Williams was successful with a penalty kick.

Griff Evans, playing in the second row, then scored a try, which Llew Jones converted.

At this point, the young Otters looked well on the way to winning the silverware, but Crymych came back via a try by centre Llan Phillips, with Harri Williams converting.

However. they failed to make further headway. The result was a triumph for the hard work done by coaches James Merriman and Andy Jeremiah and for team manager Bill Ridge, who kept in touch with the squad throughout the season.
