Quins 22 pts.
Bynea 24
The Quins snatched defeat from the jaws of victory when Bynea left wing Jac Morgans crossed with the last move of the match halfway out to level the scores, and Mark Davies converted to send his side back to Llanelli with the spoils.
It was the Quins who were out of the blocks first, and with the game just 10 minutes old, a beautifully weighted pass from outside-half Charlie Berry sent centre Rhys Marchant crashing over underneath the posts, which was easily converted by fullback Adam Cawley.
Five minutes later, it got even better for the Quins when a powerful run by left wing Nathan Hearne set up an opportunity for number eight and captain Barry Parsons to score wide out.
Cawley missed the conversion, but the Quins, now with a 12-point lead and with the lineout once again providing a fine supply of possession, looked odds-on for their third successive win.
But the alarm bells started to ring when the Quins' scrum came under intense pressure from the visitors, who were intent on running at every opportunity, and when they were awarded a kickable penalty 10 yards from the hosts' line, they declined the goal kick and with a quick tap and go put flanker Alex Kwam over under the posts to give fullback Davies the easiest of conversions.
Back again came the visitors and with the last attack of the half up popped Kwam, who had been the scourge of the Quins in the corresponding fixture last season, to round off a fine move to touch down for his second try in the corner.
Davies missed the conversion, and with the scores level at 12-12 at the break, the game looked up for grabs in the second half.
After the interval, it was the visitors who had the better of the opening stages and on 55 minutes took the lead when once again they declined a shot at goal, which provided dividends when left wing Jac Morgans popped up to score wide out to put his side 17-12 in front, although Davies failed with the conversion.
On the hour, Cawley had the chance to narrow the gap, but he pushed his penalty to the right of the uprights, but five minutes later, the Quins struck again, when for once the determination of Bynea to run the ball at every opportunity proved to be their undoing.
When an attack from the away side broke down on the Quins' 22, a ball hacked through ended up in the hands of Charlie Berry and the outside-half raced in from fully 50 yards to touch down halfway out.
For good measure, he converted it himself to put the Quins 19-17 in front.
Things got even better for the outside-half when he stroked over a 25-yard penalty to put the Quins 22-17 to the good with just two minutes to go, but for the Quins, heartbreak was just around the corner.
Deep into injury time, the visitors took a tight-head near the Quins' line which ended with Morgans scoring his second try halfway out to grab the all-important bonus point, and for good measure, Davies converted to give his side a 24-22 lead.
The referee then blew for full-time to end a thoroughly entertaining game.
Tomorrow (Saturday), the Quins are away to last season's finalists Fishguard at the Moor in the SWALEC Bowl.
