After a long spell of cancelled games due to bad weather, Pembroke Under 10s welcomed Milford last Sunday.
On a very cold morning, both teams met at Pembroke Comprehensive School, due to the waterlogged pitch at Crickmarren field.
After such a long time since the last game, Pembroke took a little while to get into the game.
It was a very hard fought first half, with both teams defending well, trying to run the ball at every opportunity.
As a result of some good driving work by the forwards, quick handling by the backs led to a good run by Jacob Wright to score Pembroke's first try.
Pembroke seemed to lift their heads as a result of this and went on to score a further two tries in the first half, another by Wright and one by Zac Jones, one of these being converted by Iori Humphreys.
A team talk at half-time encouraged Pembroke to start the second half strongly.
Dedicated defensive work by Milford made the hosts work really hard, and they were rewarded with their fourth try by Humphreys, which he also converted.
As the game progressed, Pembroke gained in confidence and began to play some mature rugby, with the forwards and backs linking well.
A second try for Humphreys was converted by Ben Callan.
From the restart, Pembroke tackled well which resulted in a turnover from which they pressurised Milford's defence again.
Quick hands by the backs resulted in Archie Hillier-Wood speeding into the corner for the final try of the match.
Archie then converted his try just before the whistle blew, making the final score Pembroke 43 Milford 0, although the final score did not reflect the determination of Milford's defence.
After the game, Milford's coach named Pembroke's number 10, Iori Humphreys, as 'man of the match'.
Pembroke team: Archie Hillier-Wood, Lewys Boswell, Aaron Griffiths, Jack Jones, Travis Mathias, Ben Callan, Iori Humphreys, Zac Jones, Jacob Wright, James Davies
Pembroke's next game is on Sunday away to Tenby.
