In a larger field than normal, the swimmers from Pembroke Dock Community School had an exceptional day at the Urdd Gala in Haverfordwest recently.

The overall placings for the Year 5/6 gala were: Nia Williams 1st in backstroke and 2nd in freestyle; Martha Wilson was placed 4th in backstroke. The boys medley relay team of Dewi Hutchinson, Kyle Jennings, Steven Brown, Kobey Thomas and Ethan Kettle were 5th, while the girls relay team were placed 1st in the medley and 2nd in the freestyle relays.

The afternoon gala for year 3 and 4 pupils started well, with Caera Lewis being placed 1st in the backstroke. Keeping up, Morgan Williams was placed 2nd in backstroke and 4th in freestyle. The teams also swam extremely well in the relays. The boys team of Rhys Hutchinson, Morgan Williams, Freddi Wilson and Harry Shaw were 3rd in both relays. The girls team - Carys Pratt, Lucy Cook, Caera Lewis and Ella Froment, narrowly lost to Glan Cleddau to be 2nd in the medley relay.

Going to Cardiff to the Urdd National Finals on January 25, 2014, are the girls relay team of Martha Wilson, Louise Mear, Nia Williams and Kirsty Cook. There will also be individual swims in backstroke for Nia and Caera. Pwb luck in Cardiff.
