Rain ruined a number of games in Pembrokeshire over the weekend, with teams in the east of the county faring particularly badly as all three Narberth teams fell foul, while Whitland seconds' home game against Pembroke was also postponed, together with St. Clears' home clash against Hook seconds.
Whitland firsts managed to escape any downpours as they headed west to Llangwm, yet came up against a team intent on climbing the ranks as they secured their second consecutive win of the season.
Always a talented side, their form has coincided with Steven Inward's return to the club after the former England U15 international showed his class again with a cultured 54, while brother Chris entertained in his 31 as the home side overhauled the Borderers' 145-8.
The bulk of those runs were scored by David Dunfee, who smashed 33 not out, while Kevin Pearce scored 31. Mark Lee with 2-35 was the only bowler to trouble the home team, who passed the total for the loss of five wickets.
Carew would have had high hopes of moving out of the relegation zone after bowling out St. Ishmaels for 137 following James Hinchliffe's four wickets and Rhys Davies's three, yet after a promising start, they were shot out for a miserable 76, thus leaving them second from bottom.
At 61 for 5, they were still in with a chance, but they lost their last five wickets for 15, for one of the most shocking defeats of the week. Only Robbie Hicks with 25 and Brian Hall with 11 got into double figures as Andrew Williams tore through them to take six wickets after a fine 50 in the first innings.
After a sorry start to the season, Cresselly are starting to hit their straps, winning their second game of the year with a six-wicket victory at Llanrhian.
The hosts batted first and were dismissed for 180, with Steffan Jenkins taking 4-39 and Ryan Lewis 2-52, but they had no difficulty in winning the game after Iwan Izzard's unbeaten 77 and Lewis 41 not out.
Carew seconds laboured to a four-wicket win at home to Lamphey after dismissing the visitors for 108 after Joel Read took 6-21 and Dom Hicks 2-19. Only David Blackwell with 27 and Neil Powling with an unbeaten 19 caused the home team trouble.
Powling was on form with the ball, taking 4-31 in 12 overs, as Carew inched to victory, with Shaun Whitfield seeing them home with an unbeaten 35.
Stackpole were bowled out for 86 at home to Johnston after the hosts batted first and scored 245-6, with Richard McKay taking 3-56 and Chris Gibbs 2-38
Only James Adie with 42 could get to grips with Steven Jenkins, who took 4-40.
Cresselly seconds lost at home to Saundersfoot after they were restricted to 149-9 as Tom Richards took 4-22 and Danny Caine 2-24. Harry Thomas excelled for the home team with 58 and Nick Davies scored 44, but Paul Mansbridge with an excellent 50 and Dai Davies with an unbeaten 80 saw the visitors home with ease.
Saundersfoot seconds drew at home to Camrose and Spittal after batting first to score 135-5 with Chris Hawkes hitting 51 not out. The visitors were restricted to 123-8 in reply as Sam Franklin and David Parcell took two wickets apiece.
Pembroke Dock beat Llangwm seconds by nine wickets after the visitors scored 161-9. Nick Daley took 4-21 for the home side and scored 18 not out, but the win was secured after Jake Griffiths hit 87 not out and Scott Griffiths 48.
In division four, Kilgetty suffered a shock defeat at Burton seconds after being bowled out for 95 in reply to the home team's 147 all out.
Peter Hall led the way for Kilgetty with a haul of 4-13 together with Ian Poole who took 3-20 and both were in the runs as Hall scored 31 and Poole 19 all out, yet the team succumbed to a spell of 6-16 by Mark Griffiths that sealed the deal for the home team.
Cresselly thirds narrowly missed out on a win at home to Carew thirds after finishing on 163-3 in reply to Carew's 166-5.
Mark Hicks scored 41 for Carew, Mark Whitfield 46 and Russell Knox 34, while Steve Davies scored 50 not out for the home side and George Wilkins 42, while Nick Jones chipped in for 28.

In reply, Kilgetty were bowled out for 109 as Thomas took 3-29, Tom Boothroyd 4-34, while Gethin Benjamin took 3-6 after 39 by Richard Gwyther gave the home team a semblance of hope.
Meanwhile, there was controversy at Lamphey after the home team's seconds scored 131-6 against their counterparts from Crymych and had the visitors on the rack on 63-6, but an incident in which the visitors claimed they were asked not to speak in Welsh resulted in them walking off the ground.
No side was available for comment at the time of going to press, but there is no doubt the incident soured the game after Haydn Cole's explosive 39 not out and Jeff Moseley's patient 25 not out led the home team's batting, while Andrew Skeels took 3-12 before the early end to the game.
