In a shock-free first round, Harrison-Allen Bowl holders Whitland had a smooth passage through to the second round, with a comprehensive win away to Herbrandston.

Batting first, Whitland reached 162-9 with consistent batting down the order as Owain Evans scored 44, backed up by Dylan Blain with 30, Paul Davies with 28 and Dan James with 22.

For the hosts, Dean Hadley took 4-33 and Jonty Bennett 4-42.

The Herbie batsmen offered little resistance to the Whitland bowling and were bundled out for 52, despite the efforts of Robert Hood with 23.

Spinner Jonathan Thomas picked up 5-20 and paceman David Dunfee 4-5.

Last season's runners-up Carew won by 10 wickets away to Pembroke Dock, after the hosts had been restricted to a low total of 65-6.Scott Griffiths was the only Dock batsman to look comfortable in his innings of 31 as James Hinchliffe with 3-27 and Tom Davies with 2-10 took most of the wickets.

Not for the first time, attacking opener Ian Sefton led the Carew victory bid with a splendid undefeated 51.

First Division Lawrenny also won by 10 wickets at home to Second Division Stackpole, who were bowled out for just 30.

Wrist spinner Phil Cole took 5-8 and there were two wickets each at minimal cost for Robert Williams and Brad Jenkins.

Matthew Lewis and Andrew Cole wasted little time in securing a winning total of 33 without loss.

Saundersfoot travelled to Hundleton and dismissed the hosts for a respectable total of 85, which at one time, was a winning score in this competition.

Jonathan Williams led the resistance with 21 whilst Ben Adams and Riaan Strydom both chipped in with 18.

James Caine had a five wickets haul with a return of 5-20 and skipper Simon Wood took 3-12.

The Seasiders won by seven wickets, with Nick Cope top scoring on 42.

Pembroke had the highest total of the competition to date when the innings ended on 163-5 away to Camrose and Spittal.

Ceri Brace revealed his batting skill in a well constructed 42, supported by Gianluca Tremarco with 32 and Jonathan Rogers with 25no. Although Daniel Wilkes battled hard with a fighting innings of 49, both Rogers and Tremarco followed up their batting with good bowling returns.

Rogers finished on 3-22 and Tremarco on 3-24

Third Division Crymych were bowled out for 64 by the First Division bowlers from Narberth, with Dafydd Wright top scoring on 14.

Narberth skipper Ian Hughes was the destroyer in chief with his accurate left arm spin with a return of 5-16.

Marc Hughes and Richard Adams steered Narberth to a 10 wickets win as Hughes was undefeated on 31 and Adams on 28.

In the much-anticipated Division Four clash between Kilgetty and St. Clears, the Saints had so many players unavailable on the night, that they had no option other than to concede the fixture to give Kilgetty a walkover.

The visitors Neyland kept the Haverfordwest batsmen in check at the Racecourse, in the tie of the round, and the Town were held to 103-7. All-rounder Nathan Banner, who had two seasons with Haverfordwest, inflicted most of the damage on his former team-mates with a return of 4-16.

Skipper Danny Potter tried to keep the scoreboard ticking over in his knock of 28 and Adam James had a breezy 19no.

It was not enough to prevent Neyland from winning by six wickets with 106-4. There were good contributions from Paul Murray with 29, Andrew Miller with 20 and Nathan Banner with 19no.

Left arm spinner Nigel Morgan was the pick of the Town bowlers with 2-19.
