As the nights draw in, there's no let-up in training for the Trots, as they prepare for the winter races ahead. The end of the summer proved to be successful for the club, with many notable individual and group achievements.

Adam Roberts was a creditable 55th in the Cardiff 10K, with a time of 36.01. Oona Crawford came second in the Female 55 category with a time of 50.29, while Pauline Thomas was first Female 70 in 59.16. Also taking part were Peter Walters (42.55) and Caroline Jones (45.09).

Ras Dau Fryn, Tegryn, proved a popular race, with a large number of Trots competing. First overall was Mike Evans in 37.33. First lady was Shan Roberts, in a time of 41.15, while Elizabeth Tremlett was first Open Female in 49.59. Anwen Jones was second OF (56.11) and Claire Thomas was third OF (59.58). Also competing were Richard Phillips (47.39), Simon Scurrell (47.50), Mike Hodges (57.36), Tom Furness (58.36) and Brian Williams (1.03.12). Jason Dickinson completed the Lake Vyrnwy half marathon in one hour 19 minutes and 25 seconds, gaining 36th place overall.

Meanwhile, Jason Dickinson demonstrated his versatility by winning the Llys Cantref 5K in 18.23 minutes. Other competitors in the Newcastle Emlyn race were Elizabeth Tremlett (20.54), Anwen Jones (24.53) and Adrienne Mackintosh (24.53).

Trots members watched the Great North Run television footage with added interest as they tried to spot Cyril Walters in the crowds. He completed the half marathon in one hour 53 minutes and 25 seconds. Also in action was Daryl John, who was first local finisher in the Ironman Wales event in Pembrokeshire with an amazing time of 10 hours 51 minutes.

The Swansea 10K was a soggy affair, with wind and rain adding to the challenge of the out and back route. The ladies gained some noticeable achievements, including Shan Roberts winning the Female 45 category in 38.07; Mary Bowen Rees winning the Female 50 category in 41.45; Lindy Eynon coming third in the F50 category in 44.28; Ann Rowell coming third in the Female 55s and Pauline Thomas gaining second in the F70s. Cyril Walters was third in the Male 65 category. Other Trots taking place were: Mike Evans (35.44), Jason Dickinson (36.57), Jon Hancock (39.56), Peter Walters (41.49), Elizabeth Tremlett (41.59), Mark Terry (44.25), Sally Wilson (44.49), Ron Anthony (44.54), Catharine Bleasdale (45.24), Andrew Russell (46.21), Oona Crawford (49.30), Anwen Jones & Adrienne Mackintosh (51.29) and Vanessa Boyet (52.08).

Three members of the club competed in the Fishguard Triathlon, namely Caroline Jones (1.28.57), Mike Hodges (1.31.52) and Claire Thomas (1.40.03).

Several Trots competed in the Dale half marathon. Despite the less than perfect conditions, Lindy Eynon was second Female 45 in 1.45.41, Mike Terry was second Male 60 in 1.56.49 and Oona Crawford was second Female 55 in 2.01.22. Other competitors were: Peter Walters (1.42.34), Chris Birch (1.48.27), Tom Furness (2.13.56), Mike Hodges (2.21.18) and Pauline Thomas (2.22.12).

The Pontypridd Reverse 10 offered slightly better conditions for the Trots who competed, leading to some good times. Jack Tremlett was 15th overall with a PB of 1.04.00, whilst Elizabeth Tremlett was hot on his heels with 1.11.34, which gained her the prize for first Senior Lady. Caroline Jones was first Female 45 in 1.15.34, with Catharine Bleasdale close behind in 1.16.29. Ann Rowell was second Female 55 in 1.24.31, with Anwen Jones in 1.27.33 (PB). The Trots Ladies were the first Ladies Team overall.
