Easter Monday sees the ever so popular Point to Point meeting take place at Lydstep, and once again, organisers will be hoping that families come in their car loads to enjoy a day out.
First race is at 1pm, and there will be some exciting Pony Racing to follow. The going is currently good, but with rain forecast, it is likely to go off softer on the day.
The Hunt Member has attracted 6 entries, most of which for local trainer Amber Griffiths, who’s partner John, will be hoping to pick his way through the card. Harpsy Card looks the stand out entry there. There are 9 entered in the 2 ½ mile Open Maiden for 4,5 and 6 year olds. Tinkers Hill Tommy ran well for a long time last time out, and should be suited by the shorter trip. Both Elav and Midnight Bliss look like they could also improve for the shorter distance. In the Open Maiden, Glenteeneasaigh looks the favourite of the 20 entries, after going close on a couple of occasions. John Mathias is likely to take that mount. Master Eleanor is another that Griffiths and Mathias have entered. Indian Leader was travelling well when falling 3 out last time out, and Sandeel Bay has been in the places on both occasions this season.
The Ladies Open once again looks like it could be a hot race, with multiple winners Watch The Birdie, Cygnet, Boyfromnowhere and Tiger Rag possible runners. Local girl Charlotte Evans is sure to have her front running horse Highly Unlikely lining up too. Of the 16 entered in the Mens Open, Rosies Peacock will be looking to improve on his run last weekend. Desertmore View was an easy winner last time out, and will be hard to beat if he came under orders. Mumbles Pier and Tullyraine could be thereabouts too.
The Intermediate looks like it could be an exciting race, with a few of the 11 entries having one last time out. Dunraven Royal, Frelia and Withoutdefavourite all have the potential to be in contention if they ran. There are 14 entries in the final race, the Restricted, where John Mathias will be hoping to finish the day on a high note with Princess Tina. Connections of Banned in Bhutan and Captain Camelot will be hoping for a great end to the day too.
