This year's Swim Wales Summer Nationals took place in Swansea from August 2-8 where some of the top swimmers in Britain were taking part. Seven swimmers from Tenby Dolphins took part, swimming under the banner of Pembrokeshire County Swimming, and a successful week was had by all competitors. Arabella Haley had a really good week, claiming six medals in total, a gold in the 100m backstroke, silver medals in the 50m backstroke, 50m freestyle (breaking 30 seconds for the first time), 100m freestyle and 200m backstroke and a bronze medal in the girls 200m medley relay. Other Tenby successes were Hannah Saunders, gold in the 400m freestyle and silver in the 200m freestyle, Owen Thomas, who swam 28.66 for the 50m freestyle (first time under 29 seconds), and there were silver medals for Katie Hicks and Talia Merriman in the girls 18 and under 200m freestyle relay. Pembrokeshire County Swimming claimed 41 medals in total, with Tenby swimmers contributing nine of them, and a personal best rate of nearly 70 per cent for over 250 individual swimmers - a remarkable result. Well done to all swimmers who took part. For the current training schedule, see the Tenby Dolphins Facebook page, while full training resumes on Monday, September 1.
