On Saturday, June 3 Tenby’s ladies golf scratch team lined up to face Cardigan ladies in their first scratch league match of the season.
The sun shone, a light breeze blew and the golf course was playing long and dry.
Beth McMann - team captain - set the pairs off on the first tee. Balls were lost (and found), putts were missed (and sunk) but Tenby ladies triumphed in all matches.
Kasumi Tran led the team out against Cardigans’ Dwynwen Holgate and two and half hours later walked in with a win of 6 and 5.
There then followed wins for all the ladies - Nel Allen beat Nicola Ward (3 and 2), Tenby’s youngest player Jemma Nand-lal (who is in the middle of her GCSE’s) beat her opponent Gloria Parsons 7 and 5, and Georgina Ormond won by the biggest margin - a whopping 9 and 8 win against Helena Horrocks.
Not to be out done Heather Morgan, (current Tenby Ladies President) was the last match on the course and beat her opponent Pam Perry 6 and 5.
“What an afternoon! Thank you to Cardigan for the camaraderie and to the ladies who played for their commitment to the team,” said Tenby captain Beth McMann.
“The team are now looking forward to their next matches-hopefully the weather will be as kind and the golf as good!
