A long time ago (Tuesday, April 19) in a land far far away (Trefloyne golf course), a group of characters got together to find out who was the fairest of them all.
The Chocolate Soldier lined up his men and Mother Goose called her chicks to order. Everyone was paired off and the game commenced.
After an enjoyable round of golf, in lovely weather, everyone got together for tea and cakes. Prizes were handed out in exchange for tickets and lots of lemonade and chocolate was won.
Then the Chocolate Soldier and Mother Goose got up to announce who was the fairest of them all. Third fairest were Peter Pan (Dave Crowley) and Wendy (Liz Crockford) with 39 points, second fairest were Prince Charming (Darrell Jones) and Cinderella (Julie Llama) with 40 points, but the fairest of them all were Beauty (Jane Richards) and The Beast (Rob Nixon) with 42 points. How everybody cheered and congratulated them.
The Chocolate Soldier then announced that a crock of gold to the value of 230 gold coins had been collected and that it would be sent to the magic fairies of Cancer Research to continue their good works.
Everybody had such a good time that it was decided to do it again, this time in the summer. We shall see if there will be another fairest of them all.
Classic victory for B team
While Trefloyne’s A team lost to Carmarthen B in a play-off on Monday in the South Wales Seniors Classic, the B team played Derllys Court A on Friday, April 15.
The first pair of Keith Hubbard and Alun Williams, played John Hartley and Jeff Thomas. The Derllys pair led after nine holes, but the Trefloyne pair fought back to win the match on the last hole, to win one up.
In the second match, Dave Crowley paired up with Roger Hancock to play Graham Owens and Paul Gibbs. Just as in the first match, the Trefloyne pair were behind after nine holes, but once again, fought back to win the match on the last hole.
In the final match, captain Mike Allen paired himself with Colin Davies, to play against Meirien Gibbs and Paul Gollop.
Once again, the home pair found themselves adrift after nine holes, in this case four down. As in the previous matches, they fought back, this time coming out with an honourable half.
The B team will now go into the next round of the classic and we wish them luck.
Final result, Trefloyne B 2.5 points, Derllys Court A 0.5.
