Seniors section
Last week saw a busy week for the Seniors (writes captain John Drury).
Tuesday was the Ladies’ and Seniors’ charity day, with good weather and plenty of keen golfers eager to play a Texas Scramble, which was the chosen format.
Thanks to Mike Allen for organising it in my absence and to all who took part, I am sorry I was unable to attend. Well done to all.
On to Wednesday and it was the first round of the Seniors South Wales Classic, with both the A and B teams playing at the same time.
The A team was at home to Cardigan and enjoyed a convincing 3-0 win.
The B team had very hard draw away at Milford Haven, but having played there in the Seniors match the week before, course knowledge was valuable and an excellent 2-1 win ensued.
Well done to Mike and the A team; also to John and the B team.
Then came Thursday and a Seniors match at Newport links. I think all were feeling the strain, with lots of aches and pains, except for Graham and Jack, who came through to be our only winning pair as sadly we lost 7-1. My congratulations to Newport.
Thanks to all who played in this busy week and for supporting me and the club.
Ladies Section
Glynhir Open: The Ladies travelled to Glynhir to play in their open. Three teams took part, with Jane Meyrick, Beth Mcmann (Trefloyne) along with Fair Ball from Tenby coming a very creditable second. Well done.
WWLGA Trophy: The ladies played at Fairwood Park in the West Wales Golfing Association Founders Cup. Jane Meyrick won the Alys M. Jones Trophy (for 19-28 handicaps). Well done to Jane and all the other ladies who took part.
Junior Academy
First session back after the Easter holidays last Saturday saw four new golfers in the boys group which is growing very well.
Swinging off all the Easter eggs in gorgeous sunshine, you couldn’t ask for a better way to spend a Saturday morning.
This week’s golfer of the week goes to Ellis, a new golfer on the block, who showed some excellent talent and great shots on his first time here - excellent work.
For the girls, this week’s golfer of the week goes to Beth, who hit some great drives. Indeed, all the girls hit the driver well - great work all.
Due to increasing numbers, we are looking to split the boys into two groups to benefit the development of our golfers and, of course, safety.
First boys group as always at 10 am and then the second group at 11 am, with the girls group moved to 12 noon.
The changes will not come into effect until the next block of sessions beginning on May 27. For information about the changes, feel free to contact us and we will work around your feedback to decide on timings and grouping.
If your interested in signing up to our academy at Trefloyne Manor, contact us at 01834845639 or email oliver0’conceptgolf.net or pop down and see how you get on.
Next session tomorrow (Saturday), 10 - 11 am boys, 11 am - 12 noon girls and the first team, 1.30 - 2.30 pm. Happy golfing
