Tenby Golf Club hosted the annual Charity Golf Day organised by the Rotary Clubs of Tenby and Saundersfoot last Friday.
The weather stayed dry, but a stiff south-westerly breeze plus some tricky pin positions made scoring difficult.
Team entries were down on average, mainly due to the date being a week or two earlier than usual. Nevertheless, all those who attended thoroughly enjoyed the day.
Each team comprised four golfers playing off threequarters of their handicap, with the best two Stableford scores on each hole counting.
The winning team this year was sponsored by Guy Thomas & Co LLP, Estate Agents and Chartered Surveyors of Pembroke. It comprised Richard Ormond, Gethin Evans, Gary McNeilly and Neil Webb, whose consistency gave them a total of 84 points, 42 on each nine.
Second were the AC/DC Electricians quartet of Adam Thomas plus Andrew Cope and his sons Nick and Richard. They are previous winners of the tournament, but their 82 points was not quite good enough to regain the title.
In third place were the four jointly sponsored by Keating Joinery and M & M Windows. Phil Keating, Gary McKeown, Viv John and Peter James handed in 79 points.
Following their rounds, all competitors were treated to a delightful meal and then entertained by the excellent cockney comedian, Bob Webb.
The sponsors of the leading teams were: Guy Thomas & Co LLP - 84 points, AD/DC - 82 points, Keating Joinery and M & M Windows of Narberth - 79 points, Steffan Jenkins & Friends and Alexander Partnership - both 78 points, Trefaulun Park - 76 points, Valero and Mainport Engineering - both 72 points, Lewis Lewis & Co Ltd - 66 points, WEDGES - 65 points.
Longest drive on 10th: Richard Cope.
Nearest the pins: 6th - Peter Jennings, 12th - Neil Webb and 17th - Steffan Jenkins.
Nearest the pins in two: 5th - Gethin Evans and 18th - Nick Cope.
Tenby and Saundersfoot Rotary Clubs wish to thank all those companies, organisations and individuals who kindly sponsored a team or a hole. The proceeds of the event will be donated to international, national and local charities to include Wales Air Ambulance and the Paul Sartori Foundation.
