KILGETTY’S Liam Cullen has completed a move from Swansea City to Leicester City.

The 27-year-old attacking midfielder has signed a three-year deal with the Foxes, becoming Leicester's fourth summer signing as the club prepares for life in League One under new manager Russell Martin.

For football followers in Pembrokeshire, Cullen's move is the latest chapter in a journey that began with Kilgetty AFC's Under-8s. A standout talent from an early age, he first caught the eye of local coaches before joining Swansea City's development set-up and later progressing into the club's academy.

Born in Kilgetty, he climbed through the age groups at the Liberty Stadium, making his debut for Swansea's Under-18 side at just 13 years old. He was also a regular in Wales' youth teams, following in the footsteps of his grandfather, Graham Jenkins, who had represented his country at youth level.

Cullen's senior Swansea debut came in the Carabao Cup against Crystal Palace in August 2018. Two years later he announced himself on the first-team stage by scoring in a dramatic victory over Reading that secured the Swans a Championship play-off place.

After a loan spell with Lincoln City, Cullen established himself as an important member of Swansea's squad. He went on to make more than 200 appearances for his boyhood club and earned a reputation for his work rate, versatility and eye for goal.

Among his most memorable moments were goals against fierce rivals Cardiff City. He found the net in Swansea's 3-2 derby victory in April 2023, repeated the feat in a 2-0 win the following year and was also on target in a 1-1 draw in August 2024.

Last season Cullen featured 40 times in the Championship, scoring five goals, with his final strike for Swansea coming in a 2-0 victory over Stoke City in March.

His form at club level also led to international recognition. Having represented Wales throughout the age groups, he received his first senior call-up in 2023 and made his international debut against Gibraltar later that year.

Now Cullen is set for a fresh challenge at Leicester, where he will be reunited with Martin, the manager under whom he spent two years at Swansea.

Speaking after completing the move, Cullen told Leicester's website : "I am buzzing to be here and I can't wait to get started. When this opportunity came about, and with the size of the club and the project they're getting started with now, I thought it was the perfect fit for me."
