THE Paul Sartori Foundation has announced the success of its first year organising the Kilgetty Bike It 100, hosted at the new venue of Carew Cheriton Airfield on Sunday 10th August.

This hotly-anticipated event, often a great practice run for those competing in Tenby’s Ironman Wales, raised a phenomenal £12,645.07 for the charity.

Building on the proud history of this much-loved cycling event, the foundation was honoured to carry forward the legacy of Norman and Sharon Mason and their family, whose ongoing guidance, participation, and hard work remain at the heart of the event’s success.

Over 200 cyclists took on the challenging routes, with riders from across the region praising both the new venue and the warm atmosphere created on the day.

While there are valuable lessons to be learned in this first year of leadership, the feedback received has been overwhelmingly positive, with many cyclists commending the smooth organisation, scenic courses, and community spirit.

Adding to the excitement, Tenby Aces once again claimed the coveted Club with the Most Finishers Award, demonstrating their strength in numbers and community dedication.

The King and Queen of the Mountain titles were also awarded in each of the distances:

King of the Mountain (100 miles) No 148: Gareth Evans, Carmarthen. (Towy Riders). Total Time (3 sections) 42m 25s. First time winner Gareth set cracking times winning by 22 secs overall with some great times set from some of Wales' best.

Queen of the Mountain (100 miles) No 143: Katie Davies, Swansea. Total Time (3 sections) 44m 32s. Super strong cyclist Katie defended the title she won last year with some incredible times including taking overall QOM on The First Kilgetty Bike It section (a record that stood for over 8 years).

Queen of the Mountain (75 miles) No 758: Carys Brimble, Saundersfoot (Tenby Aces) Total Time (2 sections) 32m 31s. Carys was another to have a great day in the saddle to take the title to give more success to The Tenby Aces.

The Paul Sartori Foundation was also thrilled to welcome back rugby legend Shane Williams, whose continued support for the event adds an extra touch of inspiration for participants.

Organisers said: “A special thank you goes to the hard-working marshalls and volunteers who made both the charity cycle event and the accompanying charity fun day possible.

“Thanks also to the many cyclists, families, and supporters who raised money for Paul Sartori Hospice at Home. Every pound raised will help us continue providing vital hospice care and support for families across Pembrokeshire.

Looking ahead, we are excited to confirm that the Kilgetty Bike It 100 will return on Sunday 26th July 2026 with a new name: Paul Sartori Bike It 100.

“We look forward to welcoming cyclists back for another memorable day in support of hospice care in Pembrokeshire.

“Updates on registration for next year’s event will be shared soon on the Paul Sartori Foundation’s social media channels and website.”
