After their shock defeat last week, Thomas Carroll Pembroke County Cricket League division one leaders Neyland got back to winning ways on Saturday with a comfortable 100-run victory over near neighbours Llangwm.

Batting first, the league’s pace-setters piled up a formidable total of 231 for 6, Scott Jones top scoring with 61 and Nic Koomen also weighing in with a half century.

In reply, Llangwm could only muster 131, with Patrick Hannon doing the most damage with figures of 5 for 41, while Andrew Miller added to his earlier knock of 32 by also taking 3 for 50.

No doubt bouyed by their performance the previous week, Saundersfoot were at it again last weekend, this time putting Whitland to the sword.

Making first use of their home strip, the villagers posted a useful total of 203 for 7, Tom Mansbridge again in the runs with 58 and Nick Cope not far behind with 54.

Cope also impressed with the ball, snapping up three wickets at a cost of just one run as Whitland fell 65 runs short of their target, with only Matthew Davies and Jack Bowen making any real contributions, with 43 and 40, respectively.

Sam Franklin and Danny Caine also picked up three wickets apiece for the delighted Saundersfoot team.

Another batting collapse saw Haverfordwest suffer their second successive defeat, this time at the hands of Lawrenny.

The Town were first to the crease and were soon back in the pavilion as they were shot out for a paltry 84... although that was 27 better than their effort last week.

Wrecker-in chief was Robert Williams with 4 for 24, while Ryan Morton and Kurtis Marsh were also among the wickets with three each.

The Town total posed few problems for Lawrenny, who knocked off the runs without losing a wicket, openers Kurtis Marsh and Harry Thomas wielding the willow to good effect with 43 and 30, respectively.

Elsewhere in the division, Cresselly romped to a comfortable nine-wicket victory over Burton, with Dan Sutton being the mainstay in their innings of 86 for 1 with an unbeaten 43, while Carew had to be content with a draw at St. Ishmaels, despite a hard-hitting knock of 48 from Ian Sefton.

Two of the best innings’ of the day, though, came in division two where Kyle Marsh smashed a superb 122 and Jack Parkinson 85 as Kilgetty racked up a massive total of 290 for 5 in their allotted overs.

But even that was not good enough for victory as opponents Carew Seconds made a good fist of their reply, Rob Hicks remaining unbeaten on 100 when their innings finally closed on 221 for 5, Eugene McCarney also chipping in with a useful half century.

Another man to reach three figures on the day was Richard Cawf, whose unbeaten 128 helped Burton Seconds to 243 for 4 in their division four match against visiting Haverfordwest Fourths.

But again his efforts did not produce a win for his side, with Jason Phillips also flaying the bowlers for 124 not out as the Town side clung on for a nail-biting draw at 205 for 9.
