Congratulations to 16-year-old Dylan Rees who has been offered a two-year scholarship at Cardiff City Football Club.
The reward comes after having travelled four times a week to Cardiff for the past five years.
Dylan started playing football when he was seven and was selected to join the club's development centre when he was eight which saw him travel to their Carmarthen Development Centre once a week whilst still playing for Tenby and the county.
During 2007, the trials for Cardiff Academy began and Dylan was offered a place in 2008, the year he started Year 7 in Greenhill School.
The training meant he travelled three nights a week to Cardiff, progressing over the years to four times a week, plus game days.
During the past 18 months, he has missed one or two days a week from school to take part in the club's day release programme where the team train, play and have education sessions with their dedicated education team.
Dylan has kept excellent grades in school throughout this, which is no mean feat.
Dylan has shown amazing commitment and dedication to his football, resulting in the best news of his career so far.
The two-year scholarship means that Dylan will be moving to live in Cardiff once his GCSEs have finished in June and will be put through a rigorous training schedule and fixture list, playing against teams such as Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester United and, of course, the local derby matches with Swansea.
His education, under the supervision of Cardiff City Football Club, will also continue to A-Level standard.
Parents Nicky and Alex and sister Chelsea are obviously very proud, along with the rest of the family.
They would like to say a huge thank you for all the support given to them over the years, with a special thank you to both sets of grandparents, Mary and Pat Rees and Liz and Jim Crockford, also Jon Webb, Pat Currie, Tenby AFC and Tenby Town Council. Without their help and support, Dylan may not have made it to training!
Dyl is wished every success in the future and we look forward to reporting on his adventure.
