On Saturday, November. 18, the annual fours competition of the South Pembrokeshire Short Mat Bowls Association for the South Pembrokeshire Shield was played at Heatherton Bowls Club.

Eleven teams from the two Pembrokeshire leagues played in two groups of four and one group of three, a round-robin format, with each match over seven ends, to qualify for the last eight positions.

Quarter-final scores (skip/club) were: D. Jones (Cosheston) 10 bt A. Watts (Llanteg) 9; D. Fisher (Penally) 7 bt M. Butler (Lamphey) 4; N. Hogg (St. Johns) 11 bt J. Thorpe (Freystrop) 0; S. Lewis (The Meads) 13 bt B. Porter (Lamphey) 2.

Semi-finals: Fisher 7 bt Jones 4; Lewis 12 bt Hogg 2.

Final: Lewis 15 bt Fisher 1.

A big thank you to all the helpers on the day, especially Steve Cox and his assistant Diane Philips, as it was a well-organised, excellent day of bowls, enjoyed by all at a great location. A special mention for the staff of Heatherton, whose help is also greatly appreciated for our bowling tournaments there.
