Former Pembrokeshire College student Zara Coombs is preparing to use her skills to travel the world after securing a sought-after job with the world’s largest and most renowned company to operate spas at sea.
Nineteen-year-old Zara completed the Level 3 Complementary Therapies course at Pembrokeshire College in June and has since been working as a beauty and complementary therapist at the Cliff Hotel and Spa in Gwbert, Cardigan.
Looking to gain new experiences, Zara applied to join Steiner whilst at the college and will start training in October. With no idea as to which boat she will be placed on, Zara must undertake up to 10 weeks of training at the Steiner training academy in London before being given her first assignment.
During her course, Zara also secured silver in the regional heats of the WorldSkills Beauty Therapy competition. Named as one of the top eight trainee beauty therapists in the UK, Zara was due to compete at the NEC in Birmingham this November as part of the WorldSkills Finals, but due to training with Steiner has had to forego her place in the competition.
Zara commented: “I really enjoyed the college’s complementary therapies course. Working with clients really helped to build my confidence and prepare me for work in the industry, while taking part in competitions got me used to working under pressure. I would definitely recommend this course; it can open doors to lots of exciting opportunities.”
