A new £5,000 Youth Action Fund is closing soon.

For young people and youth groups, there's a chance to receive a £5,000 grant for an innovative environmental project idea by submitting an application by 31 October.

The grant celebrates the legacy of local pioneer, the late Daniel Blackburn, who was a founding director of Cwm Arian – a community organisation in North Pembrokeshire that run a variety of social and environmental projects across the region.

The launch of the annual grant is designed to put climate action directly into the hands of the next generation. Cwm Arian are looking for vibrant, youth-led projects that champion low-carbon living, sustainable transport, renewable energy, or environmental ecology in West Wales.

Daniel was dedicated to inspiring young people to think differently about physics and green energy. Emma Baker, from Cwm Arian, said: "Whether he was firing toilet rolls across classrooms to show how air behaves or staying up until dawn super-gluing miniature wind turbines for children to hold, Daniel brought environmental science to life with joy and brilliant eccentricity".

She added: "This new fund acts as an enabler for that same creative spirit, turning fresh, community-minded ideas into reality."

The grant is open to schools, registered charities, and youth groups working with under 18s within North Pembrokeshire, South Ceredigion, and West Carmarthenshire. Although organisations can apply, the young people themselves must be the driving force behind the project.

To apply, visit: cwmarian.org.uk and submit the online application form by 31 October.
