Tenby’s gardeners have been thanked for uncovering the resort’s long hidden ‘magic wishing seat’.
Clr. Mrs. Caroline Thomas recently called for a spruce-up of the Castle Hill area, and at Tuesday night’s meeting of the town council, she told her colleagues that the gardeners had done a good job, particularly in finding the ‘magic wishing seat’ which appeared to have been forgotten about, as the area had become so overgrown.
“Children can now go up there once again and make their wishes on the seat,” she said.
Clr. Mrs. Thomas once again said, though, that she wanted to see more work done to protect the castle walls and had called for letters to be written to local AMs and CADW to see if there was any Welsh Government funding available to look at protecting such areas, under an ancient landmarks or heritage scheme.
She said that Angela Burns AM had responded and had suggested that CADW do have grants available, and called for a meeting to get Pembrokeshire County Council to look at the matter.
“It’s a very important heritage site for the town that needs more care,” she remarked.
The Mayor, Clr. Mrs. Sue Lane, suggested a meeting with Tenby’s ‘liaison link officer’, Richard Brown, who is also PCC’s head of environment and civil contingencies.
“We have asked to meet with Mr. Brown over the past couple of years on matters such as this concerning the town, but we just haven’t seen him. We need to meet with him and if he doesn’t accept our invite, we need to go higher,” commented Clr. Mrs. Lane.
