Members of a Pembrokeshire youth club have staged a stay awake to help a local youngster get life-changing surgery.

Twenty-nine members of Pembroke Dock Youth Club stayed awake from 8 pm on Friday, May 27, until 8 am the following morning, in aid of Liam's Dream Appeal.

Eleven year-old Liam Grange, of Hundleton, suffers from spastic cerebral diplegia, which affects his lower limbs.

The sports mad youngster, who goes to Pembroke Dock Community School, wants to be able to skateboard and play football with his friends and could realise his dream if he can travel to the US where the necessary surgical procedure is available.

His family have set up Liam's Dream fund to raise the £50,000 needed to enable him to go.

Now, thanks to their stay awake, Pembroke Dock Youth Club members have raised £1,000 towards the appeal

Youth worker Matthew Done, who helped organise the event, thanked the youngsters for their efforts.

"I'd also like to thank youth club staff and the police community support officer for giving up their time, everyone at the Dolphin Inn for their efforts - as well as all those people who sponsored the youngsters, thereby donating to the appeal," she said.
