Future sports stars from across South West Wales are signing up for a series of special summer rugby events.
Enthusiastic young players will attend annual Scarlets Summer Rugby Camps - at Parc y Scarlets for the first time. They will feature rugby-themed fun-packed activities and coaching.
The players will be put through their paces by coaches linked to the region - and will meet some of their Scarlets heroes and red dragon mascot Cochyn.
Justin Lloyd, head of the Scarlets community department, said: "We expect a bumper turnout from all over Carmarthenshire, Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion - just like previous years. Our three-day camps will be extra special this year because, with our move to the fabulous Parc y Scarlets, we have great new facilities. Our camps will be based in the fantastic indoor training barn and on our match-quality training pitch.
"The young players really rise to the challenge on these occasions and it's a great pleasure to see them enjoy the camps. As well as rugby, this year we plan to work in a few other sports. There'll also be a stadium tour and healthy lifestyle advice."
The July 28-30 camp is for those in the current school Years Three and Four. August 11-13 is for Years Five and Six. Each day runs from 10 am - 3 pm.
Participants receive a Scarlets Kooga T-shirt, a certificate of achievement, a ticket to the new season's first home game in the Magners League plus other goodies.
Justin Lloyd said: "There's a strong emphasis on learning, development and fun. We want everyone to have a great time whilst improving as players."
The rugby camp is supported by Link Telecom, Sports Council Wales and Sportsmatch. The cost of the course is just £50. For application forms phone 01554 783927, 783934 or email [email protected]">[email protected].
Also running this summer will be one-day camps for sports fans currently in Year Two at school. These take place at Parc y Scarlets on July 31 and August 14 from 10 am - 1 pm. Details: 01554 783934, [email protected]">[email protected].
