Future British Lions from across Pembrokeshire are signing-up for a special half-term rugby event.

Enthusiastic young players plan to attend a Scarlets Rugby Mini Camp at Haverfordwest RFC this month.

They will be put through their paces by coaches linked to the region - and will meet some of their Scarlets heroes and dragon mascot Cochyn. The event features rugby-themed fun-packed activities and coaching.

Justin Lloyd, head of the Scarlets community department, said: "This summer's Lions tour and the Scarlets' recent move to their fantastic new stadium have already triggered a lot of interest in our mini camps.

"We'd love a bumper turnout because it means a great healthy pursuit for the children and a chance to learn new skills and develop others.

"It's extra special this year because, with the Lions and our move to Parc y Scarlets, interest in rugby across the region has never been higher.

"The young players really rise to the challenge on these occasions and it's a great pleasure to see them enjoy the mini camps.

"Playing rugby is about having fun and meeting new friends; we believe that the Scarlets Mini Camps will give you the opportunity to do this and much much more.

"There's a strong emphasis on learning, development and fun. We want everyone to have a great time whilst improving as players."

Participants receive a Scarlets baseball cap, a Scarlets water bottle, a free match ticket for May 16's Scarlets v Ulster game, refreshments, an attendance certificate and other goodies.

The rugby camp is supported by Link Telecom. The cost of each mini camp is £15. Applications should be in by May 8.

The Scarlets Mini Camp is being held at Haverfordwest RFC on Tuesday, May 12, 5.30-7.30 pm. For details and application forms, telephone 01554 783934 or email [email protected]">[email protected]
