Guests at the Rotary Club of Saundersfoot's annual senior citizens party on Friday were entertained to a truly professional and delightful musical performance by four 11-year-old pupils from Saundersfoot Primary School, Lily Whitehurst on violin, Hannah Gray on viola, Chelsea Harries on 'cello and Rachel Hensman on clarinet.

Lily and Chelsea have been winners of the open competition at Pembrokeshire Primary Schools Orchestral Festival, over the past three years. Lily is also leader of the county training orchestra, in which all four girls play, and they are all auditioning for the county orchestra, whose members are normally 15 years and over.

Both past president Peter Williams, who was MC for the evening, and president Maurice Caine paid tribute to the girls, their music teachers at Saundersfoot Primary School, and their parents. After the performance, guests were served a selection of delicious sandwiches, quiches and pastries prepared by the Marina Restaurant, which was followed by bingo. Past district governor Howard Griffiths found a new calling on Friday night, when he acted as the caller for the bingo, and he took great pleasure in handing out hampers to six winners.

Everyone had an enjoyable evening and president Maurice and club members thank the very talented young ladies, plus the teachers, from Saundersfoot Primary School, and they wish Lily, Hannah, Chelsea and Rachel, well with their music in the future.
