Finishing touches are being put to the first every De Valence Young Performers production, which takes place next weekend. Staged on Friday, May 12, and Saturday, May 13, Children of the Rainbow takes the audience on a magical journey through the colours of the rainbow to find the mystical pot of gold at its end. A lively and energetic show full of popular songs, dance routines and comedy sketches, Children of the Rainbow has been devised by the youngsters themselves. Over 40 young performers, aged between seven and 17 have been working with co-ordinator Mandy Barrowclift since before Christmas, with Mandy scripting the show based on the ideas coming out of a series of workshop sessions. "It's been very exciting to watch the whole show evolve," explained De Valence director Claire Porter. "The children have suggested songs, choreographed their own dances and directed their own sketches with a helping hand from Mandy and our group of adult volunteers. "Everyone has been really enthusiastic and we've got a really unique and entertaining show lined up." The curtain goes up on Children of the Rainbow at 7.30 pm on both nights (doors open at 7 pm), with tickets available from the De Valence box office, Upper Frog Street, Tenby, from 9 am to 1 pm Monday to Friday (Tel. 01834 843568). Tickets are also available on the door on the night of each performance. For a sneak preview, the Young Performers will also be performing three songs from the show with West End star Peter Karrie at the De Valence tonight (Friday).
