Scores of youngsters and parents attended the Lamphey U13 presentation evening recently to celebrate their first ever season at that age group.

Under the tutelage of coach Jason Oatley, the junior section of the club is starting to thrive as the number of boys and girls turning up to training can testify.

Results may have been mixed on the field, yet with a number of the players available for next season Mr. Oatley believes the team can build on their inaugural season at this level.

"With the spirit we are building at the club I see no reason why we can't go on to win more games next year. I can't praise the players enough for their attitude and commitment and the number of players turning up for weekly practice was great to see.

"I'd like to thank them all for the enthusiasm they have shown and also the parents for making this first season at U13 a success.

Special mention must also go to Albert Butland for the help and support he has given me at practice sessions and on match days."

Lamphey won the county U15 title in 2010 and it is hoped the club can run both an U13 and U15 side next year, together with an Ormond Youth Cup team.
