Over four days earlier this summer, 26 members of Pembrokeshire YFC who would normally rely on horsepower to undertake their daily tasks, converted to peddle power with outstanding results.

Inspired by County Chairman Non Thorne, they cycled 250 miles from Haverfordwest to Blackpool where they attended the Annual National Young Farmers Convention.

Labelled Pembrokeshire YFC’s Big Adventure, with the help of numerous sponsors and volunteers, the magnificent sum of £27,000 was raised.

At the recent Pembrokeshire County AGM Non explained that she was completely overwhelmed by the support she was given and the sum raised.

Having hoped that maybe five or six others would sign up for the Big Adventure, the final number of 27 cyclists speaks volumes for the appetite Young Farmers have to make a difference in their community.

The money was given out at the AGM with Prostate Cymru receiving £15,000, Wales Air Ambulance £10,000 and Pembrokeshire YFC were given £2,000 to purchase a mobile defibulator.
