Colby Woodland's 'Thursday Fundays' proved a popular event with younger visitors during the summer holidays. Painting sessions resulted in an impressive Under 16s art competition which was on view in the 'Small Gallery' throughout August.
Thanks are due to 'Winsor and Newton' art supplies who generously sponsored the event, and to local artists Gillian Adie, Julian Brown and Graham Hadlow, who had the unenviable task of selecting three winners in each age group.
Under sevens: 1. Emma Kent; 2. Adam Crocket; 3. Sarah Williams. Seven to 11 - 1. Erin Scott; 2. Laura Williams; 3. Anna Legget. Twelve to 16 - 1. Victoria Place; 2. Sam Crozier; 3. Kevin Wakefield.
The next scheduled event, designed to appeal to all members of the family, is Family Tree Weekend on October 12/13. While youngsters follow the quiz trail and plant a tree to take home, parents can enjoy an autumnal walk, a superb photographic exhibition in the 'Small Gallery', and home-made soup in the Bothy. A concessionary half price admission is offered on presentation of this article.
