Pictured is four-year-old Alfie William Hughes from Penally with his email from Kirsty Williams, Education Minister for Wales and his homemade wooden heart.

As part of Kirsty Williams’ initiative to encourage all Welsh school children to upload their messages and pictures as HWB heroes during the Covid-19 pandemic,

Alfie who attends the Starfish class at Tenby Church in Wales Primary school, with the help of his grandpa Bill Dowell, decided to make a wooden heart with small circles of wood representing the love for all his teachers and the teachers in Wales.

Again, with the help of his grandma Nan, he recorded a video message holding his special wooden heart especially for Kirsty Williams and emailed it accordingly.

Somehow, it went straight to the Senedd and to the Minster’s Private Secretary who responded almost immediately.

The email thanked Alfie personally for his fantastic recorded message and said that there are not many moments to enjoy at present, but this really brightened up Kirsty’s Day.

The Education Minister also told his Nan to give him a big hug and tell him that he is amazing and very lovely too!

Alfie was thrilled to bits to receive such a wonderful message and is pictured here with his message and his wooden heart for Wales.
