The yoga summer term in the Village Hall ended with an enjoyable evening meal at the Dragon Palace Chinese Restaurant in Pentlepoir.

It has been another very successful season of yoga, with the majority of students attending regularly each week for the afternoon and evening sessions. The friendly, harmonious atmosphere of the classes makes it a pleasure to attend, and niggling worries are forgotten for an hour and a half. It is satisfying when a student discovers that the headache, or other ache, they came with has disappeared by the end of the class, or, with regular practice more serious health problems are eased. It is the hope of the tutor that every student will discover the benefits of coming to a class, and will also find yoga in its numerous and various aspects useful in daily life.

There are two eagerly awaited functions in the yoga year, one is the Christmas lunch, and the other is the Spring Yoga Day which is held to raise money for the village hall. Both events were well attended this year, and were much enjoyed by all those who came.

The yoga classes are always open to receive new members, whether or not they have done yoga before. They soon settle down into the happy atmosphere and shared activities, and there is always a lot of chatter between students before the start of a class, which due to yoga discipline starts on time! Usually - that is, when all the students are standing on their own mats!

A register is kept, and the cost for 2010/2011 will remain the same - £2 per person per visit. Each student is required to bring mat (a piece of carpet or underlay the length and width of the body will suffice), a travel rug or small blanket for the relaxation period, and in case it is needed during the breathing exercises, a tissue or handerchief. A small bottle of water can be helpful too if there is a throat or chest problem. Chairs are available for those unable to lie down, but as mobility increases with movement over many weeks, who knows what can be achieved before the end of a season?

Already there have been registrations for the autumn term. Further information and/or to book a place, please telephone Eileen Williams on 843561.
