Sir,
I was disappointed to read in last week's Tenby Observer that Tenby Town Council had voted for a return of the South Pembrokeshire Hunt to the town.
What possible benefit could a parade of huntsmen and their hounds have for the image of Tenby, bearing in mind the hunting of wild animals with hounds was banned four years ago due to massive public demand? What sort of image does that convey to prospective holidaymakers in the current economic climate?
Unfortunately, the Countryside Alliance, led by Simon Hart (prospective parliamentary candidate for our area), is trying to repeal the Hunting Act.
Tenby Town Councillor Putwain is to be congratulated for stating the case against the idea so eloquently and accurately.
My family would boycott the Tenby winter carnival if this was to take place.
