THE Tenby Arts Festival Writing Competition - open to anyone living anywhere - was launched very successfully last year. The 2011 competition is underway and there is still time for aspiring and established writers to polish and perfect their best poetry and prose for submission. The closing date for entries is July 15.

There are two categories - short story and poetry. The prizes are the same for each category. The first prize is £150, the second prize £70, and third prize £50. In addition, there are prizes of £25 for the best story and the best poem entered by writers resident in West Wales.

The competition judge this year is Simone Mansell Broome. Simone is a published poet, organiser of literary and broader creative events, and is active in a variety of poetry societies and writing groups.
