I would like to inform people that I ordered wreaths for Remembrance Sunday during mid August. They will be available from October 20 at the De Valence, Upper Frog Street, Tenby. Opening hours are Monday to Friday, 9 am - 3.30 pm.

The invoices are enclosed in each wreath box and cheques must be made payable to The Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal. For record keeping purposes, would you make sure you add the name of your organisation on the reverse of your cheque, if not printed on its face.

The RBL secretary, Mr. Graham Phillips, and treasurer, Mr. Paul Weit, have offered to collect the cheques from the pavilion on behalf of the Poppy Appeal campaign for this year.

Please do not send any cheques to my old address as our family moved home last Decmber 2018. Also please note that there are no Poppy Appeal Organisers for Tenby area as no one has offered to undertake this significant voluntary role.

With best wishes and special thanks to everyone around Tenby and in the outlying village communities for their support, including our Tenby RBL president, Mr. Gordon Prime, a WWII veteran and poppy collector for over 60-plus years.

Thanks also to our young cadets for collecting outdoors, schools, and all other businesses, donations and fund-raising events, not forgetting Caldey Abbey donations and church collections. There are too many to mention on an individual basis.

Also, it is very important to mention the Tenby Trust concert held at the De Valence last November to commemorate the 100 years since the end of the First World War. It was a moving and wonderful evening.

I am pleased to inform you all that, since undertaking the role of Poppy Appeal Organisers for this area from September 2013 up to September this year, a grand total of approximately £60,000 has been raised.
