The entries are in, the judges have decided and we have winners in the Pembroke Millponds Education Project photo competition!

All 49 entries are now on display at Pembroke Town Hall if you missed the opportunity to see them at the Wildlife Sightings event where the results were announced.

Pembroke Town Hall is open from 9 am to 1 pm, from Monday to Friday.

The photos were kindly printed by Lloyds Pharmacy and judged by Wayne Wilkins; professional award winning photographer, Adrian James; professional artist and John Hayes; naturalist and chair of the Millpond Action Group.

Prizes for this competition were kindly donated by Carmarthen Cameras, Creative Looks Photography, The Cornstore Vintage Interiors and by Mendus Pharmacy.

Education officer Jennifer Care said: "It was great that so many people have been outside to find and photograph the wildlife around them.

"The entry quality was very high, with the judges taking nearly two hours to decide on the winners! At the Wildlife Sightings event it was exciting to see footage of animals including badger, fox and otter caught by our camera traps around Pembroke Millponds."

The winning photo in the adult category was 'Heron reflections' taken by Charlie Kidd.

In the young person's category, 16-year-old Bryn Embleton won with his 'Bee/Foxglove' photograph.

The competition and the Wildlife Sightings event were run with the aim of increasing awareness of wildlife around Pembroke as part of a wider education project run by Pembroke 21C Community Association, focused on Pembroke Millponds and Holyland Wood. Keep an eye out for other exciting activities being run through the project.

The project is supported by funding from Natural Resources Wales, Gwir Vol and from the Port of Milford Haven.
