Sir,

Tenby Lions have fortuitously hit upon a use for the sometime White Elephant of the town, the De Valence Pavilion. Use it as an ice-rink, and I mean with proper ice, not the material that was used by the Lions, which has as much relationship to ice, as chalk to cheese. I felt sorry for everyone who was trying to skate on the plastic material, with skates that desperately needed sharpening to have any chance of skating at all. A case of false description in the advertising, I am afraid.

However, this does not mean that the idea of an ice-rink is a bad one, and I suggest that, as it would be unwise to spend money without checking on the market, the town council try the idea over the holiday months.

They would be able to find out from where either Cardiff or Swansea got their temporary Christmas ice-rink, and hire one for eight or 10 weeks during the summer.

At least it may be worth a try!
