Pupils from the Dyffryn Taf Ownzone Club, with help from Whitland Primary School Afterschool Club, recently planted a variety of riverside plants in Pocket Park in Whitland. This was part of a project involving the clubs, the Celtic Rivers Trust and Whitland Town Council who own the Pocket Park. The Celtic Rivers Trust funded the project with a small grant and gave the pupils information about the riverside environment. Pocket Park is a public picnic area alongside the river and the various riverside plants will enhance the appearance of the area and also encourage wildlife. The Ownzone pupils also made their own wooden bird boxes that were put up in the trees alongside the river. The pupils will re-visit the site over the coming months to see how the plants are growing and to see if their bird boxes have been used by any birds.

Pupils from both clubs with Phillip from the Celtic Rivers Trust and Clr. Diane Evans, current Mayor of Whitland.
