Work is underway on the new £1.2 million sports hall at Whitland's Ysgol Dyffryn Taf. The size of four badminton courts, the hall will be for the use of people in the community, as well as the 2,000-plus children from Dyffryn Taf and pupils from 13 surrounding schools. Contracts have been awarded and construction has started on the ambitious scheme, which will include new changing rooms, a fitness suite, disabled facilities and storage rooms. The cash for the centre is part of £1.7 million received by Carmarthenshire County Council from the Big Lottery Fund to enhance leisure facilities in the county. Work is due to be completed in December.
