Construction is well on track for Tenby's new cottage hospital to open by the end of the year. The £4m hospital at Butts Field will provide a purpose-built state-of-the-art healthcare facility for the people in the Tenby and district. This will enable an enhanced environment, improved facilities for patients and better working conditions for staff, better transport links and access to the facility. A wide range of services will be available to the public, including a Minor Injuries Unit, outpatient services, Health and Social Day Care services, podiatry, dentistry, x-ray facility and a base for community staff. As far as construction is concerned, a retaining crib lock wall has been built at the back of the site and the steel frame has been erected. Floor slab and drainage have also been put in place. "Whilst building work continues to make progress, the next exciting stage will be to select colours and furnishings for all of the rooms," said modernisation manager, Jenny Bowen. "Good progress is being made with construction and the contractors are well on course to achieve completion by December 5," she added.
