Visitors to Tenby Day Centre have been busy with their knitting needles.

They have been supporting the UK-based charity, Project Peru, which helps underprivileged children in the South American country.

The group have been knitting blankets after being told of Project Peru by local fundraiser, Mrs. Pat Wright.

Everyone who attends the day centre contributes - those who cannot knit help by sorting and winding wool.

Pembrokeshire County Council's community support manager, Kay Machen, said the ladies and gentlemen were delighted when they received a letter of thanks recently from the children in Peru thanking them for their efforts.

Now the hunt is on for more wool to keep the knitting needles clicking.

Said Kay: "The 'workers', as we call them, really appreciate any donations of wool which will help to keep them busy.

"The wool can be brought into the day centre at Tenby Cottage Hospital in Gas Lane. Anyone delivering wool will be welcomed with a nice hot cuppa and a chat."
