Investigations are continuing into the cause of a fatal house fire near Whitland on Saturday.

Forty-two-year-old Margaret Yvonne Preece tragically died in the blaze which broke out at Cartrefle, Blaenwaun, during the early hours of the morning.

Fire crews from Whitland and Crymych, together with the emergency tender from Haverfordwest, rushed to the scene after the fire was discovered shortly before 6 am.

Firefighters, under the command of Station Officer Frank Amies and Divisional Officer Gethin Davies, used five breathing apparatus sets, two hose reel jets and one main jet to extinguish the fire, which caused severe damage to the rear and first floor of the property.

Police are keeping an open mind as to the cause of the fire and an incident room has been set-up at Carmarthen police station.
