LOCAL artist Tina Cunningham of 'Sculpture by the Sea' will be delivering some Wild Art Workshops at the 'Story of Wood' event at National Trust Colby Woodland Garden, which runs from May 3 - 5. For many years, Tina has been a regular with her Wild Art Children's Workshops at Colby, but this year thanks to some very supportive funding by Valero, Tina will be able to deliver her fun, educational and participatory workshop over all three days. Tina is a highly experienced workshop artist, managing artist and qualified teacher. She has worked extensively in schools, both primary and secondary, and with many other organisations for many years. Tina is a co-organiser of the Environmental Arts organisation 'Sculpture by the Sea? Sculpture by the Sea UK is an Environmental Arts Company operating in South and West Wales, specialising in running art workshops, events for school children and communities and is run by a team of trained artists. Tina's own work is inspired by nature, with sensitivity to the complex and beautiful natural world. Only sustainable or recycled materials are used to produce the works. Some of the pieces use ancient traditional craft skills as well as natural materials in their creation. The artworks then contribute back to our natural world and provide a sense of awareness of where we belong. Her work creates space for us to stop and connect once more with the natural world. With the use of natural materials that change, the sculptures become mini nature reserves, special environments for all kinds of insects and in turn attracting other creatures that live from them. Tina often uses natural materials sourced from Colby, such as rhododendron leaves and cornice cuttings, and will use these in her Wild Art Activity. Sculpture by the Sea UK is indebted to Valero for funding this Wild Art Workshop over three days.
