Within easy walking distance is also St. Mary's Church and the ruins of the 12th century Cistercian Abbey of the Long Valley. Quite a journey in mileage, but well worth it!

Forthcoming events were discussed on the bus, the main one being the afternoon tea at Colby Woodlands Gardens on August 9. Members felt they would like to meet in August and this seemed a pleasant way to do so.
The September meeting (Tuesday 13th - 2.15 pm in Village Hall) will be led by committee member Joan Beddoes in the absence of the president and vice-president. Guest speaker and demonstrator will be Gill Pearce who is to give a master class in marzipan and members are invited to have a go!
St. Issell's

Twenty members and friends enjoyed a day out, some visiting the Senedd whilst others took advantage of some retail therapy. Everyone enjoyed a meal at the Buck Inn on the way home.
During the last few weeks, members have enjoyed the river cruise, the federation dinner at the Cleddau Bridge Hotel, and four teams took part in the treasure hunt. Thanks must go to Carew WI for arranging the route and for a delicious buffet prepared by their members.
As usual, there is no meeting in August, the next meeting to be held on Thursday, September 8, when the speaker will be David Miller from the coastguard.
President, Mary Howells, wishes everyone a happy summer break, and new members are always welcome to come along and join.

The June meeting was celebrated with a walk around Laugharne. It was a fine evening for a change, and the evening concluded with a lovely meal in Broadway House.
Heavy rain and high winds tried to spoil the end of season garden party in July, but Dianne and Martin Phillips kindly opened their home for the evening to go ahead and it was enjoyed by everyone.
The next meeting will be on September 7 with a talk by Lewis Griffiths on his travels and the competition will be 'the prettiest foreign stamp'.
