The following is a copy of a letter sent to the Mayor of Tenby in respect of the model village at Saundersfoot.
Your Worship, I have been visiting Tenby and Saundersfoot for over 30 years and greatly enjoyed the beautiful scenery and all the interesting places and things to do in the area. In that 30 years I have seen changes, but all have enhanced the district in one way or another. I was, therefore, exceedingly surprised this summer to discover a model village in Valley Road that has been built over several years. This is a beautifully created and fascinating replica of Tenby where it is possible to spend a long time studying the buildings and absorbing the history of the town. There seems to be no publicity about what could become a major tourist attraction and one that would be enjoyed by adults and children and particularly by people who have liked Tenby so much they have come for another visit. If you have not seen it, you should do so, privately or officially. Why is the council wasting such an asset as this; it could be included in the publicity material as another kind of attraction for visitors? The model village of Bekenscott in Berkshire and the model village in Bourton-on-the-Water in Gloucestershire are always full of visitors, so why not tempt your own visitors to see this amazing model village on your doorstep?
