Sir,

I am in wholehearted agreement with Lt. Col. Fox (Letters, Friday, October 26) for his excellent appraisal of the Police and Crime Commissioner politicised gerrymandering.

I assumed that to represent the public of Dyfed Powys Police area, the Police and Crime Commissioner must be totally independent and free of political influence and interference.

Two of the candidates, (page 2, Friday 26th) declare that they are representing political parties, given the reported public apathy to the selection of a Police and Crime Commissioner the process is left wide open for political parties to influence and interfere in policing should their candidate (representative) become the new Police and Crime Commissioner.

Richard Nordberg,

Manorbier
