The Pembrokeshire branch of the Welsh Historic Gardens Trust started their winter season at the Camrose Community Centre with a fascinating talk on the house and gardens of Tregwynt by its owner, Anne Sayer, and her husband, Mike.
Ann had researched the house and explained the development of its garden over the centuries, with the histories of the families who had lived there. The gentry of Pembrokeshire were dancing at a ball at Tregwynt when news of the French landing at Fishguard in 1797 was brought in!
The next meeting will be the annual public lecture at the County Library, Haverfordwest, next Monday, when Mr. Tom Lloyd, chairman of the Welsh Historic Buildings Council, will give an illustrated talk on 'Who Planted Pembrokeshire?'
Information on membership and the branch's winter programme can be had from Tony Brewis at Egerton House, 9 Douglas James Close, Haverfordwest (tel: 01437 767988).
